Old
boys, young hearts
We can
witness several miracles in sport day-by-day. How an agile, ingenious but slightly clumsy young kid becomes grown-up, mature, successful athlete through long process of preparations. How a move practised
during the endless trainings enters in the reality of the mat and decides the world championship final. How a less successful
but physically and technically well-prepared wrestler is pushed through the deadlock by the purposefully trained, strong mind
and soul.
The
ever-increasing circle of veterans offers us the very same miracle. After spending long decades on the mats, we are very well
aware that wrestling at elder age is much more difficult than jogging, playing tennis or table tennis because in these sports
you can dictate the tempo and take rest whenever you want. But wrestling is a true fight in all categories where the two opponents
try to do everything possible for the victory by mobilizing all physical resources, raising the tempo and fulfilling the call
of the actions indelibly present in the guts.
Veterans
do huge service to wrestling sport as their personal example is the evidence of wrestling’s joy and beauty. It also
shows that even high-level combat is not an inextricable mission in an elderly age for well-prepared wrestlers and this sport
also contributes efficiently to keep you younger and vigorous
Now
when the bravest and most venturesome veterans come to Arena Savaria of Szombathely to battle for the medals, they are at
the same time promoting to the world the magnificence, the beauty and life force of wrestling. They even educate us with their
victory elation whereas their example make them more authentic and the youth might learn from them.
